Powerful conversations
What makes a conversation powerful? Well, it depends on who takes part in the conversation and what the expectations around the conversation are. Many conversations in the business world tend to be quite linearly, sequential and with a clear purpose: a desired outcome. If the outcome is not connected to action, it is a waste of time.
Well, think about this: What if the most powerful conversations happen when you are a powerful listener. You give space for the others to express their point of view, opinions that may leave you reflecting and in thoughtfulness. Powerful does not equal power play or demonstrating power. The power lies in honest and authentic conversations with people, where you are listening more than you are talking.
Conversations are much more that merely exchanging words and sentences expressing thoughts or following an agenda. It is as much about the unspoken: body language, energy and the atmosphere.
Communication is like a drop in the ocean; it has rippling effects regardless of being sent off with love or with fear. Since it has this immense effect why not send it off with love as the impact of love will have a much more powerful impact.
